ROCKIT A DAY SCORES UPSET IN FRIDAY FEATURE

AUBURN, Wash. (Aug. 30, 2024) – Rockit a Day held off She’s So Shiny and prevailed by a neck in Friday’s $16,500 La Casa Escapar Purse for older fillies and mares.

Under a rail-skimming Juan Gutierrez ride, Rockit a Day covered 6 ½ panels in 1:16.82 on a fast track and $15.98 as the fourth betting choice. Bonnie Jenne is the trainer for Club Lucky Racing (Sean Silas) of Seattle, Wash.

A 3-year-old Washington-bred filly by Atta Boy Roy, Rockit a Day has three wins at the meet overall, and two wins since claimed for $10,000 on opening day May 4.

Gutierrez and Jenne have enjoyed tremendous recent success including stakes wins by Dynamic Spirit in the Muckleshoot Derby and He’s Not Talking in the Washington Cup Juvenile Colts and Geldings, and two wins by Rockit a Day.

Breaking from the outside post, Rockit a Day got to the rail, dueled with 3 to 5 favorite Frisco Frills to the head of the lane, shook one length clear past mid-stretch and was fully extended to fend off She’s So Shiny.

She’s So Shiny, longest shot on the board at 8 to 1, rallied late under Isaias Enriquez and just missed the victory. Lady Cruiser, bidding for her fourth win of the meet, rallied inside and was three quarters of a length back in third, while Frisco Frills and Don’t Tell Hydee rounded out the order of finish.

Simply Gracious and Team Concept were both scratched.
