Dynamic Secret takes a spin around the Emerald Downs oval

TRAINING UNDERWAY FOR 2025 SEASON

AUBURN, Wash. (Feb. 24, 2025) – With stall applications soaring to record levels, training began Monday for the 2025 racing season at Emerald Downs.

Director of Racing Bret Anderson reports stall applications submitted for 1,136 horses including 76 trainers through Sunday. Those figures represent sharp increases from last year’s 776 apps from 54 trainers.

Dynamic Secret, romping winner of last year’s Muckleshoot Derby, was the first horse on the track with Silvio Amador up for trainer Bonnie Jenne. Over 100 horses were on the track Monday, with those numbers expected to rise steadily toward opening day Sunday, April 27.

Daily training hours are 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with a maintenance break at 10 a.m.

The new Las Margs Café is open seven days this week, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The 90th running of the $125,000 Longacres Mile is Sunday, Aug. 17, highlighting a 22-race stakes schedule for 2025.
