SOPHOMORES VIE IN WA CUP DOUBLE-HEADER
AUBURN, Wash. (August 19, 2018) – Three-year-olds grab the spotlight as Emerald Downs presents the first of three Xpressbet Washington Cup double-headers on Sunday, August 26.
Sippin Fire (left)–the meet’s only three-time stakes winner–tops nominees to the $50,000 WA Cup Sophomore Colts & Geldings Stakes presented by Elysian Brewing Company. And Bella Mia (right)–four-time stakes winner at Emerald Downs–heads nominees for the $50,000 WA Cup Sophomore Filly Stakes presented by Freight NW. Both races are one mile.
Also Sunday, Quarter Horses compete in the eighth running of the $30,000 Bank of America Championship Challenge at 440 yards.
Xpressbet WA Cup continues Sunday, September 2, with the $50,000 WA Cup Juvenile Colts & Geldings Stakes presented by Muckleshoot Casino, and $50,000 WA Cup Juvenile Filly Stakes presented by Pegasus Training and Rehabilitation. Both 2-year-old races are 6 ½ furlongs.
And on Sunday, September 9, older horses have their turn with the $50,000 WA Cup Filly & Mare Stakes presented by Xpressbet and $50,000 Muckleshoot Tribal Classic, both at 1 1/16 miles.
