JUVENILES VIE IN WA CUP DOUBLE-HEADER
AUBURN, Wash. (August 27, 2018) – Two-year-old Washington-breds grab the spotlight as Emerald Downs presents the second of three Xpressbet Washington Cup double-headers on Sunday, September 2.
The twin-bill features a pair of 6 ½-furlong sprints: $50,000 WA Cup Juvenile Filly Stakes presented by Pegasus Training and Rehabilitation Center, and $50,000 Juvenile Colts & Geldings Stakes presented by Muckleshoot Casino.
Art McFadden’s This Great Nation heads a dozen nominees to the Juvenile Colts & Geldings. A son of Nationhood, This Great Nation led coast to coast and produced a mammoth $98.80 upset in the WTBOA Lads Stakes at six furlongs.
The Juvenile Filly drew 11 nominees and appears a wide-open affair. Dr. Mark Dedomenicos Money In the Starrs has solid credentials, defeating subsequent Angie C Stakes winner Northwest Factor in a maiden special weight before finishing fifth against Aikman Juliet in the Barbara Shinpoch Stakes.
The Xpressbet Washington Cup continues Sunday, September 9, with the $50,000 WA Cup Filly & Mare Stakes presented by Xpressbet and $50,000 Muckleshoot Tribal Classic, both at 1 1/16 miles.
