PROMOTIONS APLENTY AT EMERALD DOWNS

Once again Emerald Downs complements spectacular Thoroughbred racing action with a full slate of promotions for its 2024 live racing season beginning Saturday, May 4.

Promotions are scheduled for each of the 55 racing days beginning with a festive Kentucky Derby Party when Emerald Downs begins its 29th season Saturday, May 4, and continuing through closing day Sunday, Sept. 15.

While Thoroughbreds are the headliners, including the 89th running of the Longacres Mile on Championship Sunday, Aug. 11, canines (Corgis, Bulldogs, and Wieners), dinosaurs (T-Rex), and humans (Kids, Grandparents, Diaper Derby) all race in various competitions throughout the season. And for an eighth straight year the Muckleshoot Gold Cup (June 14-16) showcases the finest Indian Relay Racing in a spectacular three-day competition.

A pair of the track’s longest running promotions—the Fab Friday T-Shirt Giveaway and Fireworks Spectacular–return Friday, May 31 and Wednesday, July 3, while the annual Fiesta Premio Esmeralda salutes Hispanics in racing the weekend of July 27-28. Other cultural celebrations include Irish Day (July 13), British Day (July 20), Italian Day (Sept. 1), and Oktoberfest (Sept. 7-8).

Emerald Downs recently announced post times tweaks for 2024. Saturday and Sunday programs begin at 1:30 p.m. while Fridays begin at 7 p.m. Opening week features Saturday racing only.
