2019 WA CUP CONCLUDES WITH OLDER HORSES

AUBURN, Wash. (Sept 8, 2019) – Xpressbet Washington Cup wraps up Sunday, September 15, with two $50,000 stakes for older horses: the $50,000 Muckleshoot Tribal Classic for 3-year-olds and up, and the $50,000 Washington Cup Filly & Mare Presented By Xpressbet.

Defending champion Hit the Beach tops a healthy list of 13 nominees to the Muckleshoot Tribal Classic, to be run at 1 1/16 miles. Buckley Bay, runner-up to Hit the Beach in 2018, and Mike Man’s Gold, the track’s newly minted all-time leader in wins and winner of the 2014 Tribal Classic, also are nominated. Grinder Sparksaglo, still going strong at age 8 and runner-up to Stryker Phd in the 2016 Classic, adds further depth.

No Talking Back, already a double stakes winner this season, heads a list of eight runners nominated to the WA Cup Filly & Mare. Winner of the Emerald Distaff and Boeing Stakes in her last two starts, No Talking Back has five wins and over $116,000 in earnings the last two seasons at Emerald Downs. Dontkissntell, runner-up in this race last year as a 3-year-old, and Bella Mia, runner-up in three stakes this season, also are nominated to the Filly & Mare.
