Abrahamson wearing purple & white crossed the finish line first in Sunday’s third annual $65,000 Muckleshoot Gold Cup Indian Relay Races at Emerald Downs. The 2-mile championship heat had the top sevens teams competing for a $10,000 first place prize. A total of 21 teams competed during the three days of racing.
Scotty Abrahamson was the winning rider for the Colville Nation team located in Omak, WA.
Carlson Relay, who won preliminary heats on both Friday and Saturday, was in second turning for the homestretch. Rider Chazz Racine tried to come up the inside rail and pass Abrahamson but found tight quarters and slightly checked before clipping heels.
After a lengthy stewards inquiry, Abrahamson was declared the champion of the 2018 Muckleshoot Gold Cup.
