MS PARKSIDE POSTS NARROW TRIUMPH IN SUNDAY FEATURE
AUBURN, Wash. (May 29, 2022) – Ms Parkside collared Enchanting Way and Fire Escape in deep stretch for a neck victory in Sunday’s $19,500 Muckleshoot Casino Purse for 3-year-old fillies at Emerald Downs.
With the red-hot Kevin Radke aboard, Ms Parkside covered 5 ½ furlongs in 1:03.15 over a fast track and paid $4.20 as the public betting choice. Joe Toye, saddling his second winner on the card, is the winning trainer and co-owner with Rick Kessler.
Radke has strung together four straight multiple-win days—including a six-win day, two three-win days, and one two-win day—and leads Juan Gutierrez 14-9 atop the jockeys’ standings.
A Washington-bred by Sixthirteen, Ms Parkside is 2 for 2 at Emerald Downs and 2-0-1 in five starts overall, amassing $25,283 in purses. In Sunday’s race, she was in third early, as Enchanting Way and Fire Escape dueled through fractions of :21.60 and :44.33.
Angled outside for the stretch run, Ms Parkside gradually wore down the leaders for the victory.
Enchanting Way, ridden by Juan Gutierrez, and Fire Escape, ridden by Kevin Orozco were both game in defeat, with Enchanting Way edging Fire Escape by a head for second. Mist Oona B and Awesome Daze rounded out the order of finish. Zazen was scratched.
Total mutuel handle was $1,361,051on a nine-race card.
NOTES: Trainer Sam Dronen improved to four for four at the meet, scoring wins with longshots Northern Blend ($18.40) and Heat Seeking Leta ($20.20). . .Frank Lucarelli and Joe Toye also doubled. . .Congratulations to trainer Anne Wisdom and jockey Jose Nava-Marin for their first Emerald Downs’ victories Sunday.
