ASSEMBLE ALONG IN TIME IN SATURDAY FEATURE

AUBURN, Wash. (June 2, 2018) – Assemble and jockey Julien Couton surged past the leaders late for a one-length victory in Saturday’s $18,500 feature race for 3-year-old fillies.

Trained by Blaine Wright for owner Peter Redekop of Vancouver, BC, Assemble covered 5 ½ furlongs in 1:04.16 and paid $14.80, $5.80 and $3. A Kentucky-bred by Bodemeister, the winner was stakes-placed twice as a 2-year-old and was coming off a fifth in his local debut last month.

In fourth place through the turn, Assemble angled out past mid stretch and gained momentum late, collaring Oh Yes I Did and Sea Basket for the victory.

Oh Yes I Did and Sea Basket dueled from flag-fall to finish, with Sea Basket gaining command in the final furlong, only to be nailed by Assemble.

Sea Basket, the 4-5 favorite ridden by Erick Lopez, paid $2.60 and $2.20, while Oh Yes I Did, Javier Matias riding, finished third and paid $2.60. Frisky Bear, Shopping Tizzy and Fortunate Cookie completed the order of finish.

WINNING JACKPOT PICK 7 PAYS BOXCARS

One winning ticket collected a $22,103 payout Saturday in the $0.20 Jackpot Pick 7. The Pick 7 encompassed races races 2 through 7, and included $2 wins pays of $3.60, $4.20, $9.20, $6.20, $7.60, $14.80 and $7.

The $0.20 Jackpot Pick 7 was introduced this season, and Saturday marked only the second jackpot payout in 17 days. One winning ticket paid $16,619 on May 11.

NOTES: Rocco Bowen was off his mounts for a second straight day with flu. . . Wine At Nine ($7.60) made it two wins and a second in three starts this season, and 8-2-1 in 12 starts the last two years with a gate-to-wire victory in a $10,000 starter allowance for 3-year-olds and up.
