NAN ELIZABETH TAKES THE SATURDAY FEATURE

AUBURN, Wash. (July 22, 2023) – Nan Elizabeth rallied past Classic Leah late and scored a one-length victory in Saturday’s $18,000 Muckleshoot Casino Purse for older fillies and mares at Emerald Downs.

With Kevin Orozco riding, Nan Elizabeth covered six panels in 1:09.30 and paid $10.60 as fourth choice in the field six. Luciano Medina Gabriel is the winning owner and trainer.

A 5-year-old California-bred by Flat Out, Nan Elizabeth has won two straight from off the pace and improved to 4-3-3 in 19 starts overall with earnings of $61,240.

Saving ground while outrun on the turn, Nan Elizabeth advanced strongly into the stretch and collared Classic Leah past mid-stretch to win going away.

Classic Leah, ridden by Alex Cruz, won the pace battle but lost the war. Shaking clear after a half-mile in :44.43, Classic Leah settled for her second straight runner-up finish.

Gold Coast Girl was three lengths back in third, while Your Roil Coil, Pearl River Delta, and Heart ON the Run rounded out the order of finish. Your Royal Coil, the 5 to 2 betting favorite, broke slowly and never threatened.
