IN THE RED ALL THE WAY ON MONDAY NIGHT

AUBURN, Wash. (July 3, 2023) – In the Red took command early and rolled to a two-length victory over Hollywood Mistress in Monday’s $16,000 Muckleshoot Casino Purse for older fillies and mares on Fireworks Spectacular night at Emerald Downs.

Ridden by Rigo Sarmiento, In the Red covered a mile in 1:35.65 and paid $14 as fourth choice in the wagering. M.L. Pierce, saddling his second winner in as many days, is the trainer for Purple Rose Ranch.

Slipping through to take command on the backstretch, the winner set fractions of :46.10, 1:09.94, and 1:22.40 enroute to his first win of 2023 and fifth of his career. A 7-year-old Kentucky-bred by Red Rocks, In the Red is 5-5-4 from 27 starts overall with earnings of $107,772.

Hollywood Mistress, ridden by Kevin Radke, chased the winner home and was clearly second best, while 19 to 1 long shot Kerralia was up for third. Shesaheatwave, bidding for her third straight win, finished fourth while Emerald Sea, Red Panty Night, and Oreo’s Dream completed the order of finish.
