SUNSHINE EMILY SCORES A ROUT IN FRIDAY FEATURE

AUBURN, Wash. (May 10, 2019) – Sunshine Emily shook off Classic Leah into the lane and romped home by 9 ¼ lengths in Friday’s $15,000 Muckleshoot Casino Purse for 3-year-old fillies at Emerald Downs.

Ridden by Franklin Ceballos, Sunshine Emily ran 5 ½ furlongs in 1:03.92 and paid $7, $4.60 and $3.60. Frank Lucarelli, the meet’s leading trainer with seven wins, is the winning trainer and co-owner with R.E.V. Racing.

Hustled to the lead, Sunshine Emily set fractions of :21.85, :45.06 and :57.35 en route to her second career victory. A Washington-bred by Sixthirteen, Sunshine Emily earned $8,250 and boosted her career ledger to 2-0-0 in four starts with overall earnings of $17,568.

Lulumaru, ridden by Jorge Carreno, rallied wide into the lane and finished well to take second place, returning $13.20 and $6.40. Bluegrass Lily, ridden by Heribert Martinez, finished third and paid $8.60, while Classic Leah, M and m Girl, Fleet Marie and Frisky Fox completed the order of finish.

Timberlake Gage, the 5 to 2 morning line, favorite was scratched and is entered back in the $50,000 Seattle Stakes on Sunday.

NOTES: Juan Gutierrez rode three winners Friday—Flatter Cat ($12.60), Miner Heat ($4) and Freiburg ($5)—and increased his all-time Emerald Downs’ total to 1,325 wins. He’s 94 wins away from tying Gallyn Mitchell’s track record 1,419 wins. . .4-year-old filly Fantastic Chloe and jockey Lorenzo Lopez escaped injury after both went down in a race three mishap, in which Fantastic Chloe clipped heels with J J J Paloma nearing the five-sixteenths marker. . .Lopez returned to ride M and M Girl to a fifth in Friday’s feature race. . .Stay in Grace ($7.20) became a double winner at the meet with a victory in the Friday opener. An Oregon-bred 4-year-old filly ridden by Jose Zunino, Stay in Grace is 6 for 10 lifetime for trainer Linda Northam and co-owner Wayne Williams. . .Redrock Trail ($5) led gate to wire in the nightcap to give Emerald Racing Club its first win of 2019. Javier Matias, riding his 492nd winner at Emerald Downs, was up for trainer Mike Puhich. . .Live racing continues Saturday with first post 2 p.m.
