MS PARKSIDE ALL THE WAY IN FRIDAY FEATURE RACE

AUBURN, Wash. (June 9, 2023) – Ms Parkside raced to the early lead and held off Pearl River Delta for a 1 ¾-length victory in Friday’s 24,000 Cutwater Spirits Purse for older fillies and mares at Emerald Downs.

Heavily favored at odds of 3 to 10, Ms Parkside covered six furlongs in 1:10.04 on a wet-fast track and paid $2.60 after securing her fifth victory in seven career starts at Emerald Downs. Luis Negron rode the winner for trainer Justin Evans and Stable H.M.A—the 15th time already this season that Negron and Evans combined to produce a victory.

Breaking from the No. 4 post in a field of five, Ms Parkside sprinted clear at once, set fractions of :21.83 and :44.73 for the quarter and half-mile, straightened into the lane with a 1 ½-length lead and held sway to the wire.

A 4-year-old Washington-bred by Sixthirteen, Ms Parkside improved to 6-2-1 from 15 starts overall with earnings of $88,315.

Pearl River Delta held second with Neptali Ortiz riding, while Ms Lynn, Emerald Sea, and Oreo’s Dream rounded out the order of finish.

NOTES: Total mutuel handle was $797,765 on a seven-race card. . .Alex Cruz and Charles Essex swept the early double with Nation of Faith ($13.80) and Dennard ($49), returning $75.20 for a $1 daily double. . .Cruz rode four winners while trainer Justin Evans swept races four, five and six with Ms Parkside ($2.60), Barossa ($8.60), and Provost ($6.60), and now leads Jorge Rosales 18-7 in the trainers’ standings. . .Teacherbugsaroo chalked up her third straight second of the meet, finishing runner-up to Nation of Faith in the Friday opener for maiden 3-year-olds and up. . .Live racing continues Saturday with 2:15 p.m. first post on Belmont Stakes Day.
