LUCARELLI REMAINS RED HOT WITH ANOTHER THREE-BAGGER
AUBURN, Wash. (June 7, 2019) – Trainer Frank Lucarelli continued his winning ways Friday, notching his fourth three-win day of the season—all on Fridays—including a victory by Dixie Pulpit in the $11,000 Muckleshoot Casino Purse for 3-year-olds and up.
Lucarelli saddled the winners of races two, three and six—Shockazulu ($7.80), Brahms Forest ($8.80) and Dixie Pulpit ($12.40)—boosting his season total to 24 wins in 19 days. The track’s all-time leader with 968 victories, Lucarelli opened a 14-win lead over Blaine Wright and Vince Gibson atop the trainers’ standings.
In the feature, Dixie Pulpit rallied for a 1 ¼-length victory under Kevin Orozco in 1:09.28 for six furlongs. A 4-year-old Lucky Pulpit gelding owned by Aaron Bresko, Dixie Pulpit is 2-1-0 in five starts with earnings of $16,290, including $6,050 for Friday’s victory.
Lucarelli is 24 for 68 (35.2 percent) and already has six multiple win days this season.
NOTES: Lovefliesonwings ($6) captured the second 2-year-old race of the season, leading gate to wire under Heribert Martinez in :52.84 for 4 ½ furlongs. An Atta Boy Roy filly owned and bred by Swag Stables, Lovefliesonwings is the second winning foal out of quadruple Emerald Downs’ stakes winner No Flies On Doodle. . .Martinez and Orozco rode two winners each on the seven-race card. . .Gary Wales guided Goldslinger ($9) home in the nightcap and boosted his meet-leading total to 23 wins. . . Riding his first race since 2011, 63-year-old Troy Grissom finished second aboard Ridgefield Rocket in Friday’s fourth race. . .Live racing continues Saturday with first post 2 p.m. The $1.5 million Belmont Stakes (G1) will be simulcast between Emerald Downs’ races 4 and 5 with post time 3:37 p.m.
