Oldtimers Vision and Gary Wales lead to the wire

OLDTIMERS VISION ALL THE WAY IN FRIDAY FEATURE

AUBURN, Wash. (June 29, 2018) – Oldtimers Vision would not be denied Friday evening at Emerald Downs.

The veteran gelding turned back Royal Tale through the stretch and prevailed by three-quarters of a length in the $8,800 Muckleshoot Casino Purse for 3-year-olds and up.

With Gary Wales riding, Oldtimers Vision covered 1 1/16 miles in 1:42.56 and paid $10.80, $5.40 and $3. Jeff Metz is the winning trainer for Top Hat Thoroughbreds.

A 7-year-old Kentucky-bred by Pollard’s Vision, Oldtimers Vision has 10 career victories—all at Emerald Downs—including two this season. His overall record is 10-7-8 in 55 starts with earnings of $115,023.

Royal Tale, a 28-1 long shot ridden by Patrick Henry Jr., challenged the winner in the stretch but settled for second place and paid $22 and $6.40. Archie Graham, the even-money favorite ridden by Kevin Orozco, rallied belatedly for third and paid $2.20.

Que Chistoso, The Gold Monkey, Trelawny and One Macho Gambler completed the order of finish.

NOTES: $2 win payoffs in Oldtimers Vision’s 10 wins at EmD: $10.80, $5.20, $11.40, $11.80, $11.60, $8.80, $31.40, $20, $2.80, $8.80. . .Will Not ($4.80) became the meet’s fourth three-time winner with a gate-to-wire score for trainer Bob Meeking and Allaire Farms in the Friday opener. . .Speaking of sharp horses, Calex ($4) improved to 2-2-0 in four starts at the meet with a gate-to-wire triumph in race four, running a mile in 1:35.69. It was the 15th career win for the 6-year-old gelding, trained by Robbie Baze and owned by Picho Garcia and Valentin Garcia. . .Wales was the lone jockey with two wins on the seven-race card. . .Racing continues Saturday with first post 5 p.m. The eight-race card features an $8,508 carryover in the $0.20 Pick 7.
