CODY’S CHOICE DOMINATES FRIDAY FEATURE RACE
AUBURN, Wash. (July 13, 2018) – Cody’s Choice ran the opposition off their feet Friday evening at Emerald Downs.
With Leonel Camacho-Flores riding, Cody’s Choice led all the way for a 5 ¾-length victory in the $13,600 feature race for 3-year-olds. Scoring his second victory of the season, the winner set fractions of :22.19, :44.54 and 1:08.72 en route to a 1:15.31 final clocking for 6 ½ furlongs.
Trained by Vince Gibson and owned by Pam Gibson and Maureen Hallett, Cody’s Choice is 2-5-1 in nine career starts with earnings of $27,760. The winner is a Washington-bred gelding by Raise the Bluff-Carrie’s Choice.
Aliante, ridden by Rocco Bowen, held second and paid $4.60 and $3.20, and Legitimate Cause, ridden by Kevin Orozco, flew late for third and paid $4.40 to show. Ridgefield Rocket, He’s Not Grey, Im Insatiable Too and Prevail completed the order of finish. Take Charge Deputy was scratched.
NOTES: Camacho-Flores was 2-for-2 Friday, scoring with Cody’s Choice and Winning Bluff ($10.80). . .Julien Couton and Gary Wales also rode two winners Friday, while Rocco Bowen had one win. . .Bowen tops the standings with 60 wins, followed by Couton and Kevin Orozco with 37 each, and Wales with 27. . .Trainer Manny Ortiz has won with six of his last nine starters including a last-to-first victory by Deputy’s Command ($4.80) in Friday’s fourth race. . .Copy Begone took the Friday opener in 1:15.85 for 6 ½ furlongs, the 13th career victory for the 5-year-old Demon Warlock mare. Trained by Neil Knapp, Copy Begone is 9-4-0 in 19 starts at Emerald Downs. . .Live racing continues Saturday with first post 5 p.m. and includes a $43,201 carryover in the $0.20 Jackpot Pick 7.
