HE’S NOT GREY CONTINUES TO ROLL

AUBURN, Wash. (July 12, 2019) – He’s Not Grey held off a late bid by Iron Rob and scored a two-length victory Friday in the $13,600 Muckleshoot Casino Purse for 3-year-olds and up.

With Gary Wales riding for trainer Candi Cryderman and owner John Parker, He’s Not Grey zipped six furlongs panels in 1:08.14 and became the first four-time winner this season at Emerald Downs. The prohibitive 1 to 9 favorite, He’s Not Grey paid $2.20, $2.10 and $2.10.

A 4-year-old Slew’s Tiznow gelding, He’s Not Grey is 4-0-1 in five starts this season and seven for his last eight dating to last season. His overall record, which includes a victory in the 2017 King County Express, is 8-1-2 from 13 starts with $76,727 in earnings.

He’s Not Grey set pressured fractions of :21.96; :44.09 and :55.80, shook off Guardingthemoney in mid-stretch, and held Iron Rob safe in the final furlong.

Iron Rob, ridden by Jose Zunino, rallied from last to finish second and paid $2.80 and $2.10, while Guardingthemoney held third and paid $2.10 to show. Tumac Mountain and Attercop rounded out the five-horse field.
Wales, Cryderman and Parker also combined with Awesome Return ($5.60) to win Friday’s third race, extending Wales’ consecutive winning days streak to 24.

NOTES: Parker now leads Chad Christensen 12-8 atop the owners’ standings. . .He’s Not Grey accounted for $65,376 of an $87,904 show pool. . . Anyportinastorm owns the fastest six furlongs of the meet, 1:07.54, in the Governor’s Stakes last month. . .Five horses have won three races at the meet: All Star Allie, Das Bear, Flatter Cat, Mystical Image and Rosso’s Gatto, and all but Das Bear are entered this weekend at Emerald Downs. . .Franklin Ceballos also rode two winners Friday. . . Including a victory by Spun Tiger ($11.20) in the Friday opener, trainer Jorge Rosales is on a 9 for 26 roll and has jumped to third overall with 15 wins. . .Ronton ($14) rallied from far back in the nightcap to give trainer Jeff Metz his first win of the meeting. . .Live racing continues Saturday with first post 5 p.m., and includes an $11,407 carryover in the $0.20 Jackpot Pick 7.
