BLUE LAW RALLIES TO VICTORY IN FRIDAY FEATURE

AUBURN, Wash. (August 11, 2017) – Blue Law collared Capital Expense past mid-stretch and drew clear for a 3 ½-length victory in the $11,300 Muckleshoot Casino Purse for 3-year-olds and up Friday at Emerald Downs.

Ridden by Rocco Bowen, Blue Law ran six furlongs in 1:09.17 and paid $6.40, $3 and $2.20. Manny Ortiz, saddling his second winner of the night, is the winning trainer for owner Tim Bankers.
A 5-year-old Dunkirk gelding, Blue Law has been a steady performer this season, compiling two wins and two seconds in seven starts while racing in the $15,000 to $20,000 claiming range. His overall record is 3-4-3 in 25 starts with earnings of $77,230.

Viewingthegold, the 6-to-5 favorite ridden by Leonel Camacho-Flores, edged Capital Expense in the final strides for second place and paid $2.60 and $2.10

Capital Expense ranks with the best on the grounds in terms of sheer early speed and showed that again Friday. He rocketed through fractions of :21.79, :43.96 and :56.23, and was still 2 ½ lengths clear before tiring in the final furlong. Ridden by Kevin Orozco, Capital Expense paid $2.60 to show.

Thorn Legacy, Three Red Sevens and Whole Lotta Zip completed the order of finish; Barasso was scratched earlier in the day.

NOTES: Julien Couton rode Friday’s first race but was off his final six mounts with reoccurrence of a thumb ailment. . .Jockey Erick Lopez recorded his first three-win day of the season including a pair of wins for owner John Parker and trainer Candi TollettLet’s Mambo ($6.20) and Coast Is Clear ($3.40). . .Rocco Bowen’s two wins were his 90th and 91st of the season. He now has 29 multiple-win days. . .Back-up announcer Tom Harris called Friday’s fifth race won by Listo ($3.40). . .The Emerald Racing Club scored its second win of the season as 3-year-old gelding E Z Larry ($3.60) raced to a gate-to-wire victory in race three. . .Live racing continues Saturday with first post 2 p.m.  with the first 2,500 fans receiving free NYRA Sunglasses.
