SHOPPING TIZZY PREVAILS IN FRIDAY FEATURE RACE

AUBURN, Wash. (August 10, 2018) – Shopping Tizzy and jockey Patrick Henry Jr. would not be denied the victory Friday night at Emerald Downs.

After losing a certain victory in dramatic fashion last month, the Trappe Shot filly and veteran rider combined for a 10-1 upset over Silversonic in the $11,200 feature race for 3-year-old fillies.

Shopping Tizzy ran one mile in 1:38 and paid $22, $5.40 and $3.20. Tom Wenzel trains the winner for owner George Todaro of Seattle.

In her previous race, Shopping Tizzy moved powerfully to the lead and was mere yards away from a 15-1 upset when she ducked in suddenly, unseating Henry, who escaped serious injury in the incident.

Friday, Shopping Tizzy saved ground until the head of the stretch, when she began drifting to the middle of the track. Henry, however, was able to sustain Shopping Tizzy’s rally and together they collared A Filly Can Dream and Silversonic in the final yards for a 1 ½-length victory.

“Coming into this race we were more alert,” said Henry, who has ridden nine winners in his first season at Emerald Downs. “Its horse racing, and you have to be prepared for what can happen in a race. But (Shopping Tizzy) was victorious today.”

Shopping Tizzy is 2-1-2 in 11 starts with earnings of $22,347.

Silversonic, the 3-5 favorite ridden by Javier Matias, edged A Filly Can Dream by a neck for second and paid $2.60 and $2.10, while A Filly Can Dream, ridden by Jennifer Whitaker, finished third and paid $2.40.

A Little Romance and Truth Matter finished fourth and fifth, and Beautymis was a late scratch.
