THE CALABRESE KID SMOKES ’EM IN FRIDAY FEATURE RACE

AUBURN, Wash. (Aug. 25, 2023) – The Calabrese Kid swept to the lead past mid-stretch and drew off for a convincing 2 ¾-length triumph in Friday’s $13,000 Muckleshoot Casino Purse for 3-year-olds and up at Emerald Downs.

Ridden by Silvio Amador, The Calabrese Kid covered 6 ½ furlongs in 1:17.06 and returned $5.40 straight as the public betting choice. Hilario Perez saddled the winner for owner Joe Abrahamson of Wellpinit, Wash.

A 4-year-old California-bred by Finnegans Wake, The Calabrese Kid has five wins in 2023 including two this season at Emerald Downs. His career record is 5-7-2 in 25 starts with earnings of $66,540.

Spire, ridden by Carlos Montalvo, rallied to finish second while Mahi Mahi, with Kevin Orozco up, finished third. Rounding out the order of finish were Stand To, Western Rule, You Split Tens, and Crooked Finger Ray.
