2-YEAR-OLDS CENTER STAGE AT EMERALD DOWNS

With the season nearing the half-way point, 2-year-olds begin to play a major role in the racing program at Emerald Downs.

Sunday’s stakes double-header featuring the $50,000 King County Express for colts and geldings and $50,000 Angie C Stakes for fillies—both 5 ½ furlongs— are the first of seven stakes for juveniles at the 2022 meeting.

The series continues Sunday, Aug. 7, with the $50,000 WTBOA Lads Stakes for colts and geldings and $50,000 Barbara Shinpoch Stakes for fillies, both at 6 ½ furlongs, and concludes Sunday, Sept. 18, with the $70,000 Gottstein Futurity at 1 1/16 miles. Washington-breds have an additional chance for stakes money Sunday, Aug. 28, in the $50,000 Washington Cup Juvenile Colts & Geldings and $50,000 Washington Cup Juvenile Fillies, both at 6 ½ furlongs.
