WEIGHTS RELEASED FOR $200,000 LONGACRES MILE (G3) 

AUBURN, Wash. (August 4, 2018) – Handicap weights for the 83rd running of the $200,000 Longacres Mile (G3) were released Saturday by the Emerald Downs’ racing office.

Riser, the top older horse at Emerald Downs in 2018, is high-weighted at 125 lbs, followed by Alert Bay at 121 lbs, with Barkley and Full of Luck next at 120 lbs apiece. Defending Longacres Mile champion Gold Rush Dancer and 2017 Washington Horse of the Year Mach One Rules are both assigned 119 lbs, as is Northern California speedster My Friend Emma.

The Longacres Mile, to be run Sunday, August 12, anchors a stakes quadruple-header also featuring the $50,000 Emerald Distaff, $50,000 WTBOA Lads Stakes, and $50,000 Barbara Shinpoch Stakes.

Blaine Wright, trainer of Riser and Alert Bay, said Riser is injured and out of the race while Alert Bay is 50/50 to run. Alert Bay worked five furlongs in 1:00 Saturday at Golden Gate Fields.

Top Quality, also trained by Wright, is high-weighted at 122 lbs for the $50,000 Emerald Distaff, also to be run Sunday, August 12. In addition to training the two Mile high-weights, Wrights also trains three of the top four Distaff high-weights, Top Quality, Daz Lin Dawn (120) and Reginella (119).

Entries for the Longacres Mile and $50,000 Emerald Distaff will be drawn 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Emerald Room at Emerald Downs.
