MILE PREVIEW DAY FEATURES FOUR STAKES RACES
AUBURN, Wash. (July 10, 2016) – Stryker Phd and O B Harbor (pictured) top a list of 10 nominations to the $50,000 Mt. Rainier Stakes to be run at 1 1/16 miles on Sunday, July 17.
The Mt. Rainier is the final steppingstone to the $200,000 Longacres Mile (G3) on August 14, and one of four stakes to be run on Mile Preview Day: Older fillies and mares compete in the $50,000 Boeing Stakes at one mile, 2-year-old fillies race 5 ½ furlongs in the $50,000 Angie C Stakes, and 2-year-old colts or geldings sprint 5 ½ furlongs in the Emerald Express.
The Chilli Man, brilliant in his debut last month, is expected to make his second career start in the Emerald Express while the Mt. Rainier features two-time defending Longacres Mile champion Stryker Phd vs. razor-sharp O B Harbor, unbeaten in three starts this year including triumphs in the 6 ½-furlong Governor’s Stakes and one-mile Budweiser Handicap.
