MILE PREVIEW DAY FEATURES FOUR STAKES RACES
AUBURN, Wash. (July 14, 2019) – A stakes quadruple-header featuring the final local tune-up for the Longacres Mile is set for Sunday, July 21, at Emerald Downs.
The $50,000 Mt. Rainier Stakes for 3-year-olds and up at 1 1/16 miles is the final stop heading into the 84th renewal of the $200,000 Longacres Mile (G3) on Sunday, August 11. Older fillies and mares also try two turns in the $50,000 Boeing Stakes at 1 1/16 miles, and 2-year-olds jump into the fray with the $50,000 King County Express for colts and geldings and $50,000 Angie C Stakes for fillies, both at 5 ½ furlongs.
With Anyportinastorm—easy winner of both the Governor’s Stakes at 6 furlongs and Budweiser Stakes at 6 ½ furlongs—passing the Mt. Rainier to await the The Mile, Todd and Shawn Hansen’s Oh Marvelous Me is a logical favorite. Runner-up to his stable mate in both the Governor’s and Budweiser, Oh Marvelous Me has finished first, second or third in 16 of 17 starts at Emerald Downs, including a third in the 2018 Longacres Mile.
Trainer Blaine Wright nominated a trio of Emerald Downs’ stakes winners—Bella Mia, Fly Far Away and Reginella—to the Boeing Stakes.
