Indian Relay Racing gets underway under the lights.Twenty-one teams are planning on competing in the three-day event. The first three heats (7 teams in each) will take place during tonight’s 7-race card. First Thoroughbred race at 6:30 PM.

The Muckleshoot Canoe Family (performing Saturday & Sunday): The Muckleshoot Canoe Family began in 2002 under the leadership of Walter Pacheco. They represent the Coast Salish culture blending traditional elements with contemporary resources. The Canoe Family engages in an annual Tribal Canoe journey where Tribes from all over the Northwest and beyond travel on a journey through their traditional territories. Traveling hundreds of miles in Journey they engage in traditional protocol song and dance and the languages of their ancestors.
The Black Lodge Singers: From White Swan, WA they have won multiple awards, have 20 albums, and have been nominated for a Grammy Award. They will be performing at the front gate to welcome guests and during the relay post parades and between races each day.
Nicole Suyama: Nikki will be performing National Anthem all three days plus additional performances throughout the weekend. A former student of Native American youth theater program Red Eagle Souring, Nicole now works for the non-profit as an assistant director and teacher. Nicole is of Inupiaq decent from Kotzebue, AK. She has performed in multiple theater productions throughout Seattle.
Elaine Miles: Elaine is best known for her role as Marilyn Whirlwind in the television series Northern Exposure. Originally from Pendleton, OR, Elaine was raised in the Seattle area and is a member of the Cayuse and Nez Perce Tribes. Elaine will be hosting the team autograph table throughout the weekend.
Ryan Yellowjohn: A Hoop Dancer who performs all three days.
Escalanti Family: Hip Hop style Dance Group.
Pow Wow Dancers: Nicoda Yellowjohn, Grace Yellowjohn, Harmony Yellowjohn, Ione Yellowjohn, Charissa Antone, and Neetoperforming will be here all three days.
