Bullet Drill (No. 3) prevails in Wednesday feature race

BULLET DRILL SHARP IN WEDNESDAY FEATURE

AUBURN, Wash. (July 29, 2020) – Bullet Drill improved to two for two at the meeting, holding off Grinder Sparksaglo for a 1 ¾-length triumph Wednesday in the $15,600 Muckleshoot Casino Purse for 3-year-olds and up at Emerald Downs.

Ridden by Javier Matias, Bullet Drill ran 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:02.38 and paid $7.80 as second choice in the wagering. Frank Lucarelli is the winning trainer for owner Billy Speed Racing Stable (William Greenstein, Ashland, Ore.)

A Washington-bred by Coast Guard-Ms Moscow Mattie, Bullet Drill is 5-3-0 in 13 starts lifetime at Emerald Downs with $69,435 in earnings.

Grinder Sparksaglo, the 3 to 2 favorite, finished second and was followed by The Press, Tumac Mountain, Legitimate Cause, Docktarri, Freiburg and Wheresthemoneyjack.

In the $0.50 Pick 5, which included a $31,544 carryover, tickets with five winners returned $3,904.90. Wednesday’s Pick 5 pool was $213,165.

NOTES: Harbors Rule, full brother to 2017 Washington Horse of the Year Mach One Rules, broke his maiden wins as the 8 to 5 favorite in Wednesday’s sixth for $25,000 maiden claimers. A 3-year-old by Harbor the Gold-Felice the Cat, Harbors Rule was runner-up in last year’s WTBOA Lads Stakes. The victory pulled Harbor the Gold to within one win of Slewdledo’s all-time track record of 412 winners sired. . . Swift as I Am—longest shot on the board at 17.50 to 1—cruised gate-to-wire in a $25,000 maiden claimer for 2-year-old colts and geldings. A California-bred by Danza, the winner covered five furlongs in :57.11 under Alex Anaya for Vince Gibson and owner Jeff Cissell. . .La Waun ($3.40) made it two straight for Alex Cruz, trainer Candi Cryderman and owner John Parker with a 1 ½-length victory in 1:08.93 for six furlongs. A 5-year-old California-bred, La Waun is 5 for 10 here the last two years. . . Blaine Wright trainees now own the two fastest 5 ½ furlongs times this season. Windribbon ran a 1:02.11 while winning by 12 ½ lengths on July 9 and Australian-bred Owners’ Prestige was clocked in 1:02.23 winning Wednesday’s eighth by 2 ¼ lengths. . .Cerapio Figueroa and Jorge Rosales combined for wins with Tiger On Your Six ($12.40) and This Great Nation ($17). . .
