COASTAL TULIPS COASTS TO VICTORY

AUBURN, Wash. (August 13, 2020) – Back in against the girls.

That’s would it took for Coastal Tulips to find the winner’s circle Wednesday afternoon. The 5-year-old mare sprinted clear down the backside and went on to beat six rivals at the $15,000 claiming level.

The Washington-bred was making her first start after being claimed by leading owners Chad and Josh for $15,000 three weeks ago. Chad and Josh lead all owners with 10 victories.

She ran the 6 furlongs in 1:09.93 and was 3 1/2 lengths clear of Abraa Jabraa. Somethin’about Iris rounded out the trifecta.

Coastal Tulips paid $4.60 to win.

Notes: The betting handle on the 11-race card was $1,730,803…Eddie Martinez tripled to run his season total to 19. Juan Gutierrez and Alex Cruz each doubled. Trainer Jorge Rosales captured the first (Stratus Bird) and third (Dyf) with runners first off the claim. Rosales sits second in the trainer standing with 16 victories…Racing resumes Thursday with an eleven-race card including three Quarter Horse Stakes.
