LA UNA PREVAILS IN THURSDAY FEATURE RACE
AUBURN, Wash. (May 27, 2021) – La Una rallied through the sloppy going and scored a one-length victory over Camden High in the $23,650 Bud Light Purse for 3-year-old fillies Thursday night at a very wet Emerald Downs.
Ridden by Jose Zunino, La Una ran 5½ furlongs in 1:04.48 and paid $8, $6 and $3.40. Blaine Wright is the winning trainer for owners John and Janene Maryanski, Riverbend Stable and Blaine D. Wright Racing Stables.
A Washington-bred by Tale of Ekati-Muchas Coronas, La Una is two for two lifetime with earnings of $20,488. She overcame a poor start to win her debut last July, leaving in her wake eventual track and state champion 2-year-old filly Time for Gold.
Camden High, longest shot on the board at 23 to 1, rallied to finish second and paid $22.60 and $, 7. Coastal Rain, with Kevin Radke riding, held third after fractions of :21.24 and :44.77and paid $4.20 to show.
Zippen Sevenz, Frisco Frills and Patricia L rounded out the order of finish. Frisco Frills, the 8 to 5 betting favorite, pressed Coastal Jazz to mid-stretch and gave way.
Tothemoonandback was scratched earlier in the day.

A Washington-bred by Nationhood, Nationheart ran 5½ furlongs in 1:03.81 under Radke for trainer Kay Cooper and owner Poseidon Partners II. . .Rick and Debbie Pabst bred both Nationheart and feature race winner La Una. . .Remembertobreathe ($9.80) prevailed in the first two-turn event of the meet, running a mile in 1:37.60 for his eighth Emerald Downs’ victory. . .Trainer Dione Asmussen notched her first career victory with Tippytap On Sand ($15.20) in the ninth race. . .Thursday’s $0.50 Pick 5 returned a whopping $16,677.05. . .Live racing resumes Wednesday, June 2 at 6 p.m., and includes a $4,896 carryover in the super hi 5 and $11,299 carryover in the $0.20 Jackpot Pick 6.
