OREO’S DREAM BACK ON THE BEAM AT EMERALD DOWNS

AUBURN, Wash. (May 25, 2024) – Oreo’s Dream rallied inside and scored a major upset in Saturday’s $16,000 Muckleshoot Casino Purse for older fillies and mares at Emerald Downs, edging Ms Flashy Harbor by three-quarters of a length in 1:09.85 for six furlongs.

Ridden by Juan Gutierrez for trainer Anne Wisdom, Oreo’s Dream paid $34.34 as the longest price in the field of six older fillies and mares. The winner races for MoSaWi Racing, Ellen Moore, and Jim Moore.

For Gutierrez, No. 1 all-time with 1,568 wins at Emerald Downs, it was his first win since Sept. 2022. The 53-year-old Mexico City native sat out all of 2023 and Oreo’s Dream was the sixth mount on the comeback trail for the Washington Racing Hall of Famer.

Breaking from the No. 2 post, Oreo’s Dream chased Lucinda Rella through fractions of :22.26, and :44.74, re-rallied to kick clear past mid-stretch, and held Ms Flashy Harbor safe to the wire.

Like her jockey, Oreo’s Dream had been winless since 2022, but reunited with Gutierrez did the trick. A 6-year-old Washington-bred by Coast Guard, Oreo’s Dream has four career wins—all with Gutierrez aboard—from 23 lifetime starts with earnings of $70,144.

Ms Flashy Harbor, ridden by Brayan Pena, finished second while Tiz a Tiger, Alex Cruz aboard, finished third. Lucinda Rella, Holy Tutta Bella, and Laker Jet rounded out the full order of finish. Tiz a Tiger and Holy Tutta Bella were co-favorites at odds of 9 to 5.

Big Mama Thornton was scratched earlier in the day.
