
Missed the Boat dominates in the Saturday feature race
MISSED THE BOAT SHARP IN SATURDAY FEATURE RACE
AUBURN, Wash. (July 31, 2021) – Missed the Boat remained razor-sharp with a 4 ¾-length victory over Rate for Me in Saturday’s $10,500 Bud Light Purse for 3-year-olds and up at Emerald Downs.
With Alex Cruz riding his third winner on the card, Missed the Boat ran a mile in 1:36.79 and paid $5.20 as the betting favorite. Kay Cooper is the winning trainer for owner Lyle Conway.
Missed the Boat was in perfect position throughout the race, stalking Cody’s Choice through fractions of :23.22, :46.20 and 1:10.31. The winner powered to the lead into the stretch and drew off to win with complete authority.
Missed the Boat, a 7-year-old Kentucky-bred by Midshipman, is 6-5-4 in 29 career starts with earnings of $58,172. He’s 6 for 16 at Emerald Downs and ran the fastest mile of the mee—1:34.80—while scoring by 9 ½ lengths on July 3.
Rate for Me, the 3 to 1 second choice ridden by Juan Gutierrez, rallied late to edge Cody’s Choice for second, while Cody’s Choice, a 19 to 1 long shot ridden by Joree Scriver, finished third. Rounding out the order of finish were Deepingreen, Christine’ Jack, Pistol Power, Playoff Bound and Remembertobreathe.
