REMEMBERTOBREATHE PREVAILS UNDER THE LIGHTS

AUBURN, Wash. (July 29, 2017) – Remembertobreathe forged to the lead past mid-stretch and held off Hot Bobby for a three-quarter-length victory Saturday in the $13,600 Muckleshoot Casino Purse at Emerald Downs.

Ridden by Julien Couton—his third win on the card—Remembertobreathe ran one mile in 1:37.02 and paid $6.20, $3.60. Robbie Baze is the winning trainer for owner David Gregory.

A well-traveled 6-year-old Florida-bred, Remembertobreathe has a lifetime record of 7-7-8 in 40 starts with earnings of $174,927, including $7,480 for Saturday’s triumph. A D’wildcat gelding, Remembertobreathe is 3-3-1 in nine starts at Emerald Downs including a victory in last year’s Mile Consolation.

Since winning last year at Emerald Downs, Remembertobreathe has raced at Hastings Racecourse, Keeneland, Penn National, Parx and Presque Isle Downs.

Hot Bobby, ridden by apprentice Kevin Orozco, launched his customary late charge to nab second and paid $6 and $3.60. The 5-year-old gelding has a win and three seconds in four starts at the meet.

Ready Set Jet, with Rocco Bowen riding, held third and paid $3, while Please Be Me, Oldtimers Vision and 6-to-5 favorite Party Pooper rounded out the order of finish.

Hoody, Face Valued and Archie Graham were scratched earlier in the day.

Remembertobreathe was claimed for $15,000 Saturday by trainer Terry Gillihan and owners Ed and Fran Barber, and third-place finisher Ready Set Jet was claimed for $15,000 by trainer Blaine Wright and Seamist Racing. . .Copy Begone ($3.40), a five-time winner here in 2016, scored her first win of 2017 with a gate-to-wire triumph in Saturday’s fifth race. . .4-year-old gelding Salty Minnow ($50.20) rallied under Jose Zunino and gave trainer Mike Thompson his first win of the meet in race seven. . .Salty Minnow was the only double-digit winner in a $0.20 Pick 7 sequence that paid $7,840. . .Rocco Bowen rode a pair of winners, his 81st and 82nd of the season . . .Eliska Kubinova missed a victory by a head aboard No Talking Back in the third race, her first mount since being involved in a three-horse spill last week . . . Saturday’s card was the final of four twilight Saturday cards this season.
