TESLA ALL THE WAY IN SATURDAY FEATURE RACE

AUBURN, Wash. (July 13, 2019) – Tesla, nicely rated by jockey Ryan Barber, led all the way for a 3 ¼-length victory Saturday in the $13,600 Muckleshoot Casino Purse for older fillies and mares at Emerald Downs.

A 5-year-old Papa Clem mare, Tesla ran a mile in 1:36.98 and paid $11.20, $5 and $3.40. Alan Bozell is the winning trainer and co/owner with Helios Stables.

Sprinting to the lead immediately, Tesla set fractions of :24.53, :48.52, 1:12.44 and 1:24.53, and held Semi Sweet safe to the wire. She now has two straight wins and is 5 for 13 overall with earnings of $36,335.

Semi Sweet challenged into the lane, but couldn’t gain on the winner in the stretch run. Ridden by Gary Wales, Semi Sweet paid $5 and $2.40. Goldie’s Darlin’s, the 7 to 5 favorite, held third and paid $2.20 to show, and Fortune’s Freude and Lesedi rounded out the order of finish. Papa Mambo was scratched.

Barber and Bozell also clicked for a $42 upset with Rough and Ready in race four and have combined for seven wins at the meeting.

NOTES: Gary Wales rode two winners and extended his streak to 25 consecutive days with a win; Kevin Radke owns the record of 30 straight winning days. . .Forbidden Maria ($9) clicked in race five to give trainer Gregory Moore his first win of the meeting. . .Jose Zunino rode back to back winners in races five and six—Forbidden Maria and Mister Breeze ($24.80). . .Live racing continues Sunday with a nine-race card on Irish Day, featuring the $50,000 Seattle Slew Stakes for 3-year-old colts and geldings and $50,000 Irish Day Stakes for 3-year-old fillies. First post is 2 p.m., and there are carryovers of $17,800 in the $0.50 Pick 5 and $13,906 in the $0.20 Jackpot Pick 7.
