LUCINDA RELLA PREVAILS IN FRIDAY FEATURE
AUBURN, Wash. (Aug. 23, 2024) – Lucinda Rella rode the rail and edged heavily favored Holy Tutta Bella by a head in Friday’s $16,500 Browne Family Spirits Purse for older fillies and mares at Emerald Downs.
Ridden by Carlos Montalvo, Lucinda Rella ran six furlongs in 1:09.55 on a sloppy track and paid $24.80 as the second longest price in a field of seven. Dr. Ryland Harwood is the winning trainer, owner, and breeder.
A 5-year-old Oregon-bred by Understatement, Lucinda Rella won for the fourth time in 16 lifetime starts, earning $9,405, to boost her career total to $37,103.
Holy Tutta Bella, the 3 to 5 favorite ridden by Kevin Krigger, rallied from fourth and just missed the victory, while Don’t Tell Hydee, Luis Reyes riding, was two lengths back in third place.
In six starts at the meet, Don’t Tell Hydee has five seconds and one third.
Although they missed with Holy Tutta Bella, jockey Kevin Krigger and trainer Justin Evans clicked for three wins Friday—Colonel Ludlow ($5.80, Prince of Luck ($6.46) and Westerberg ($4.16)—and have combined for 32 wins this season.
