WEEK 15 FEATURE RACES
Owners’ Prestige
Wednesday, Oct. 7, Race 8, $10,000 claiming, 3-Year-Olds & Up, 6 Furlongs: These open $10,000 claimers are extremely competitive, and whoever wins will have earned every penny of the $6,160 winners’ share. Owners’ Prestige deserves favoritism after back to back daylight wins, including a 3 1/4-length score at this level six weeks ago. He shortens a half-furlong but still must deal with fellow speedsters Fuzzy Dolphin, So Lucky and Pure Pursuit, the latter zipping the fastest six panels of the meet on a wet-fast strip Sept. 18. Mixo has fired a couple good shots and figures to rally into a lively pace, but the 1 for 26 mark at Emerald Downs is a concern. Earlier on the card, a five-pack of older $40,000 claimers race 6 1/2 furlongs for a $21,000 purse. Catfish Hunter looks tough after beating a similar crew last month including Blaine Wright trainees Windribbon and Oh Marvelous Me, the former 2-0-1 in three starts at the meet and the latter 7 for 22 lifetime at Emerald Downs
Muncey
Thursday, Oct. 8, Race 2: $19,000 allowance, 3-year-olds 1 Mile: Muncey has finished in the money five of six starts this year and comes off a good third to Unmachable, the likely 3-year-old champion who returned to drill older horses in the Muckleshoot Tribal Classic. Muncey can get the distance but his closing style could be a concern. Spittin Image, younger brother of 2016 Horse of the Meeting O B Harbor, lost a heart breaker to a decent horse on a muddy strip three weeks ago and could control the pace on the stretch out. Harbors Rule, stable mate of Spittin Image, ran well in the Muckleshoot Derby at a mile and a sixteenth and could rebound on a fast track. Lolo Paniolo is inconsistent and his three previous routes were misfires, but he delivered an eye-catching win three starts ago. Wicked Winnings has shown little in three starts this season, but is two for two at a flat mile.
