WEEK 6 FEATURE RACES

Spittin Image

Wednesday, June 23, Race 7 ($20,900 ALW, 3&UP NW2X or WA-BRED NW3, 6F): Spittin Image scored by 3 3/4 lengths at this same level two weeks ago, but remains eligible for this condition because he is Washington-bred. A full brother to 2016 Horse of the Meeting O B Harbor, Spittin Image figures to be pressed early by Forever Gold and recent maiden winners Rings of Saturn and Slew’s Tiz Whiz. Lightly-raced Igottabooboo ran well off the bench and could move forward here, but will need to work out a trip from the one-hole. Stand To was bumped hard at the start and could improve here with clear sailing. Hard to Deny failed to fire as the 2 to 1 favorite, but his previous four races were all good ones. Time ‘n Time Again could get a lively pace to help his stretch kick.

All American Hero

Thursday, June 24, Race 3 ($20,000 CLG, 3&UP, 6F): All American Hero is up in class following a sharp local debut in which he ran 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:02.81 and earned a 79 Beyer. He faces serious pace pressure in this one, but retains the leading rider and blew out a bullet three panels Saturday. Northern California shipper Bear Chum had a huge 2020 campaign and hails from the hot Ari Herbertson barn. The 8-year-old Australian-bred will be a handful if ready off the bench. Capital Expense was a gate scratch June 2, and in retrospect probably wouldn’t have beaten Wheel Rally that day anyway. The 8-year-old gray had a productive Phoenix campaign and throws a monkey wrench into the pace scenario. Elliott Bay is a multiple stakes winner and ran fairly well in his return to Emerald Downs three weeks ago. The pace should be more to his liking here. Bullet Drill is a capable sprinter on his best day, but seems to have tailed off in his last few starts.
