PARKERS DELIGHT SCORES HAT TRICK UNDER ZUNINO

Parkers Delight drew off through the lane and raced to a 4 ¾-length victory Saturday in the $11,900 feature race for older fillies and mares at Emerald Downs.

With a red-hot Jose Zunino aboard, Parkers Delight ran 6 ½ furlongs in 1:16.68 and paid $3.80, $3.20 and $2.60. Alan Bozell is the winning owner and trainer.

A 4-year-old Washington-bred by Parkers Storm Cat-Sundown Delight, Parkers Delight is three-for-three at the meeting with victories of 5 ¼, 3 and 4 ¾ lengths. Her overall record is 4-2-1 in 10 starts with earnings of $31,995 including $6,545 for Saturday’s victory.

Great Lady Zen, ridden by Rocco Bowen, rallied to finish second and paid $6 and $3.80. Dyna Star, a 15-1 long shot ridden by Isaias Enriquez, finished third and paid $5 to show, while Winninginfashion, Fine Red Wine, Knife River, Tiz My Cherrie and Croix Du Soleil completed the order of finish.

Zunino, who rode both stakes winners last weekend, is enjoying an exceptional run of race riding. In addition to stakes wins aboard O B Harbor and B C Z Middleton, he also has recent feature race wins on Live Like Mike and Parkers Delight.

NOTES: Parkers Delight was claimed in a three-way shake Saturday by trainer Frank Lucarelli. . .Trainer Tom Wenzel saddled the first and second place finishers in the Saturday opener for maiden special weight 2-year-old fillies, with Getting Joellenned ($6.60) scampering to a 4 ¼-length victory over Afleet Hope in :51.27 for 4 ½ furlongs. The winner, a daughter of Trappe Shot owned by George and Jane Todaro, is the first foal out of Halloween Candy. . .Rosie Simkins accomplished the same feat with 3-year-old fillies in race four as Three Forks Gold ($5) cruised to a 5 ¼-length victory over Listo in 1:09.15 for six furlongs. . .Rocco Bowen, Leslie Mawing and Javier Matias rode two winners each on the nine-race card, and Bowen maintained a seven-win lead over Mawing—46-39—atop the jockeys’ standings. . .In addition to Parkers Delight, Parkers Storm Cat sired second-race winner Nightwalker ($15). . .Live racing continues Sunday with the $50,000 Kent Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/16 miles.
