$67,000 Muckleshoot Gold Cup Indian Relay-Day 2

The race is on in Day 2 of the Muckleshoot Gold Cup!

ACTION HEATS UP ON DAY 2 OF MUCKLESHOOT GOLD CUP

AUBURN, Wash. (Sept. 11, 2021) – Amskapi Pikunii, Carlson Relay and S/M Express won qualifying heats Saturday on the second night of the fifth annual $67,000 Muckleshoot Gold Cup Indian Relay Racing at Emerald Downs.

The three-day event features 18 of the finest Indian relay teams in the nation, representing tribes from Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

Amskapi Pikunii turned in the night’s fastest relay, covering two miles in 3:35.17 while winning Saturday’s first qualifying race. With Chris Carlson riding, Amskapi Pikunni finished over four seconds clear of Black Rock Relay.

Carlson Relay, the 2016 Muckleshoot Gold Cup champions, won the second qualifier in 3:38.17 with Chazz Racine riding and S/M Express and rider Desmond Archilita were victorious in Saturday’s third qualifying heat.

The Muckleshoot Gold Cup continues Sunday with two consolation heats and the championship Muckleshoot Gold Cup at 5:46 p.m.
