Daddy's Demon
Washington-bred gelding (b. 2009)
by Demon Warlock-Silent Pine
Career (2011-2012): 10-2-2-1, $9,122

Tim Floyd, with his father Allen and friend Mike Nist, campaigned Demon Warlock, Emerald Downs Horse of the Meeting for 2004.  Demon Warlock ran a gallant second to Adreamisborn in that season's Longacres Mile and won the inaugural Muckleshoot Tribal Classic.

Demon Warlock had a big heart and plenty of speed, winning the Budweiser Handicap at EmD, a number of fast sprints in California and the Portland Meadows Mile.  He was trained by Terry Gillihan.  Tim Floyd kept him for a stallion and he now stands at Roche Farm in Yakima.

"The Demon Warlock babies have all been very intelligent," said Floyd. "He stamps them well and they're quick to learn lessons.  Trainers have commented that they're easy to work with."

One early foal was Daddy's Demon, a two-year-old of 2011.  He grew up at Floyd's Warlock Stables in Spokane and debuted in November of his juvenile season.  He won two of his first five starts at Portland Meadows, displaying speed and versatility.

Daddy's Demon's ran at Emerald Downs last summer and competed well - fourth in tough company behind Rocky's Quest, Rezar and Stephanie Plum.  His racing career lasted until December of 2012 but Floyd is always thinking ahead.

"If not doing well in racing, I'm one who wants to get them going in other areas.  When you raise them and breed them, not buying at sales, you're more connected to them - like family members."

Emily Wilmot of Allaire Farms in Poulsbo recommended Floyd to Tanya Bowden of TNT Equestrian Center in Coupeville, on Whidbey Island.  Bowden re-trains Thoroughbreds for sale in new disciplines and has incentive to promote them.

"Daddy's Demon was in a show at TNT this spring and he performed well," said Floyd.  "It led to his being sold."

Daddy's Demon is currently the ownership of a U.S. Navy flight doctor and she plans to campaign him in upper level eventing in the San Diego area where the doctor is stationed.

He's already been well-traveled but Daddy's Demon's second career seems to have a long and bright future!
