JOCKEY JUAN HERNANDEZ, CITY BY THE BAY, WINNER: “She was training really good before this race. The trainer did a good job getting her ready. I thought she could win this race, but I didn’t think it would be easy. She broke a little bit slow, so I just found a spot behind the leaders. I didn’t want to go head-and-head early. I asked her a little before the quarter-pole because I didn’t want the leader to try and get away from us. This was my filly’s first time here, so I had to make sure to really get after her so she knew when to go. She responded really well. I was worried that we might finish second because the filly on the inside looked like she was never going to give up, but my horse didn’t quit. It’s really beautiful here at Emerald Downs. Someone told me down at Golden Gate that it was really nice up here, and they were right. It is nice.”
