    JADEY BABY VICTORIOUS IN FEATURE,
CAPS FOUR-WIN DAY FOR JUAN GUTIERREZ

AUBURN, Wash. (May 11, 2013) – Jadey Baby swept past the leaders into the lane and edged clear for a 1 ¼ -length victory in Saturday’s featured event for fillies and mares at Emerald Downs.

Ridden by Juan Gutierrez—capping a four-win day for the track’s leading rider—Jadey Baby ran 5 ½ furlongs in 1:04.40 and paid $6.60, $2.80 and $2.10. Robbie Baze is trainer and co-owner with William Nooney.

A 4-year-old Washington-bred by Cee’s Tizzy, Jadey Baby has a 2-6-2 mark in 18 career starts with earnings of $24,452. She had a hard-luck campaign in 2012, compiling one win and five seconds in 13 starts at Emerald Downs, Hastings Racecourse and Turf Paradise.

Saturday, Jadey Baby stalked the leaders as Eltoninadress and She’s a Time Bomb dueled through fractions of :21.98 for the quarter-mile and :45.38 for the half. Jadey Baby advanced three deep on the quarter-pole, took a short lead into the stretch and edged clear to the wire.

Eltoninadress and She’s a Time Bomb were in a virtual match race from the opening bell. Eltoninadress eventually won the battle, edging She’s a Time Bomb by a head for second place, but she lost the war as Jadey Baby scooted by both for the victory.

Ridden by Javier Matias, Eltoninadress paid $5.40 and $2.60, while She’s a Time Bomb, ridden by David G. Lopez, paid $2.60 for show. Lil Sister Sadie and Forest Bunny completed the order of finish; Bullys Blond Girl was a late scratch.

As for Gutierrez, the 43-year-old jockey became the first rider to win four races on a card this season at Emerald Downs. He also tied the record for most days with at least one win to start the season, 11, previously set by Jose Alferez in 1999.

NOTES: Financial Officer, runner-up in race four, fell from heat stress after the race, but walked off under his own power and was reportedly in good condition, according to trainer Howard Belvoir...Jockey David G. Lopez, unseated when Decisive Fact stumbled at the start of race four, escaped injury and rode his final four mounts…Congratulations to owner Jody Peetz (One Horse Will Do Corp.) for winning a race on her birthday, as Just Zoom Will Do ($5.20) romped by seven lengths in race six. A 4-year-old gelding co-owned and trained by Chris Stenslie, Just Zoom Will Do ran a meet-best 1:15.52 for 6 ½ furlongs. The meet’s leading trainer with 12 wins, Stenslie and Gutierrez have combined for eight wins…Trainer Valerie Gibson improved to 3-0-1 in four starts at the meet as Tesio’s Theory held off long shot Wind a Flyin in the ninth race finale…Isaias Enriquez rode two more winners and is up to second in the jockeys’ standings with 13 wins…Rocco Bowen, up for the win on Tesio’s Theory, is third with 11 wins…At Hastings Racecourse, I Think So ($4.30) was the easy winner of the $50,000 Ross McLeod for 3-year-old fillies, covering 6 ½ furlongs in 1:16 1/5…Live racing continues Sunday with first post 2:15 p.m. on Mothers Day. Exclusive Diva is the 8-to-5 morning line favorite in the $50,000 Hastings Handicap for older fillies and mares at six furlongs.
