HAVE’N A WILD TIME PREVAILS IN ASHBAUGH BEAL

AUBURN, Wash. (Aug. 23, 2012) – Have’n a Wild Time collared Lonely and Free in the final strides for a neck victory Thursday in the Ashbaugh Beal Claiming Challenge Qualifying Event for older fillies and mares at Emerald Downs.

With apprentice Eliska Kubinova riding her third of four winners on the card, Have’n a Wild Time ran one mile in 1:37.27 and paid $15, $8 and $3.80. Bonifacio Rayas is the trainer for owners Julie Nakahara and Matt Pilot.

Lonely and Free, ridden by Rocco Bowen, nearly led gate-to-wire but was tagged in the final strides. Lonely and Free paid $6.60 and $4.60.

    A. Lurie Girl, with Juan Gutierrez riding, rallied for third and paid $3.60.

Kubinova swept the final three races, four of the last five, and boosted her season total to64 wins, and needs just seven wins in the final 16 days to set a single-season record for apprentice wins at Emerald Downs.

Kubinova was on some prices, too, as Intentional Foul paid $16 in the third, Matt Allie $5.80 in the fifth and Lit’l in Din $10.60 in the seventh. The late Kubinova Pick 3 paid $183.30 for $1.

Intentional Foul, Mattie Blue and Have’n a Wild Time all have won their last two races with Kubinova riding. A former stakes winner, Have’n a wild Time is 6-4-7 in 35 starts lifetime with earnings of $84,722.

NOTES: Lo’s in the Flow—with $39,424 of $42,043 in the show pool—finished fifth in the third race, triggering the meet’s three biggest show prices: Intentional Foul paid $16.60, $11.60 and $49.20 across the board; runner-up Just Zoom Will Do paid $7 and $45.40, and third-place Power Strip paid $21.60…The track’s all-time record show payoff –$187—was set by, coincidentally, Have’n a Wild Time in the 2009 Diane Kem Stakes. In that race, Knight Raider finished fourth at 2-to-5 with over $150,000 wagered on her to show …Live racing continues Friday with first post 6:15 p.m. There is a $0.50 Pick 5 carryover of $5,011 on races three through seven.
