MT. RAINIER HANDICAP
3-YEAR-OLDS & UP
18th RUNNING, JULY 21, 2013
1-1/16 MILES IN STAKES RECORD 1:40.52
JOCKEY AMADEO PEREZ, HERBIE D, WINNER: “I am just so happy right now. I wasn’t expecting to get the lead that easy, and I’m so happy that I did. I just want to thank everybody for letting me ride him today. He’s a very nice horse, and I just can’t wait for (The Longacres Mile).”
JOCKEY DEBBIE HOONAN, STRYKER PHD, SECOND: “He was sharp today out of the gate but once he got in behind he settled well. He was ready to make his run but it was hard to close into the others with the pace the way it was. He fills his lungs with air and starts smoking like a locomotive. He changed back to the wrong lead in the stretch but he galloped out strong. He might've got a little tired today, but it was a longer race. I'm proud to be part of Margo's team. It's an awesome feeling to be part of a horse headed to the Mile.”
JOCKEY DAVID FLORES, TRES BORRACHOS, FIFTH: “"He was just empty. The pace was slow but he just didn't have a good run today. No complaints about our trip, it was good."
