AUBURN, Wash. (June 11, 2017) – After a week without stakes activity, Emerald Downs returns with double barrel action with the $50,000 Budweiser Stakes on Sunday, June 18, and $50,000 Washington State Legislators Stakes on Saturday, June 17.
The Budweiser at 6 ½ furlongs is next-to-last prep for the $200,000 Longacres Mile (G3), and features five-time Emerald Downs’ stakes winner Barkley vs. Mach One Rules, Togrammashousewego, Chief of Staff and perhaps Stryker Phd, the two-time Longacres Mile winner whose last sprint was over four years ago in the 2013 Governor’s Stakes.
Nominations for the Washington State Legislators features the top three finishers from the Hastings Stakes at 6 furlongs—Citizen Kitty, B C Z Middleton and Protective Shield—along with two-time Emerald Downs’ champion Princess Kennedy and four runners based at Hastings Racecourse. Princess Katie hasn’t raced since she shipped to Emerald Downs and rallied from 14 lengths back to edge My Heart Goes On and Princess Kennedy in the 2016 Irish Day Stakes.
