    WTBOA LADS

    2-YEAR-OLD COLTS & GELDINGS

    33rd RUNNING, AUGUST 16, 2014

    6 ½ FURLONGS IN STAKES RECORD 1:16.19

JOCKEY LESLIE MAWING, TRACKATTACKER, WINNER: “He’s a strong horse and he was pretty much the giant in this race. I just wanted to extend his stride and let him run free. I didn’t want to be running into someone else dictating the pace. I’d rather be dictating the pace in this type of race with these types of horses. He was starting to get a little bored in the stretch so I tapped him a couple times to get his attention and make sure he knew he was there to win. I galloped him out good because I knew down the road he’s going to have to run a mile or 1-1/16 miles. I also wanted to see what he had under me and he had a lot left. He’s at the top of the list of 2-year-olds I’ve ever ridden. I’m not going to compare any horses but he’s up there. Distance will not be an issue for this horse. Even if he gets headed or breaks slow, he can come from off the pace and it will be the same result.”

TRAINER FRANK LUCARELLI, TRACKATTACKER, WINNER: “He’s real efficient the way he moves. He doesn’t even appear to be a 2-year-old. He just walks over here and doesn’t fret about anything. He just does his job. He likes it and that’s what makes him good. Our plan is to go to the Washington Cup and then the Gottstein Futurity.”

NOTES: Trackattacker (3-3-0-0-$56,318). . .Trackattacker has paid $2.10, $2.10 and $2.10 in both stakes wins. . .Trackattacker accounted for $618,883 of $635,485 wagered to show. . .Frank Lucarelli has three stakes wins at the meet and is No. 4 all-time with 32 stakes wins at Emerald Downs. . .R.E.V. Racing has three stakes wins at the meet and five all-time. . .Leslie Mawing is No. 1 with eight stakes wins at the meet, and No. 4 all-time with 29 stakes wins at EmD. . .Ricky Frazier served as Honorary Steward for the WTBOA Lads Stakes. . .Next for 2-year-old colts & geldings: $50,000 Daily Racing Form Dennis Dodge Stakes (Wash. Bred), six furlongs, Sunday, September 7.
