1 1/8 MILES IN 1:49.79
JOCKEY JULIEN COUTON, WORLDVENTURER, WINNER: “The only thing that (Blaine Wright) told me before the race was that this horse didn’t like to be on the inside. Obviously, they went pretty fast for the lead, so we were able to get out on the backside and get him into a good cruising speed. He obviously liked the distance. Hopefully, we can go farther.”
JOCKEY JAVIER MATIAS, MIKE MAN’S GOLD, THIRD: “We figured we wouldn't get an easy lead today and we were prepared for that. I thought he was going to settle behind but then he just started pulling and I was trying to keep him back. When I asked him to run, he just said no. We were too close to a fast pace.”
JOCKEY ISAIAS ENRIQUEZ, MUSIC OF MY SOUL, 4-TO-5 FAVORITE, FOURTH: “It was one of the worst races I've ever ridden. I wanted to get the lead but Juan (Gutierrez, aboard Finallygotabentley) wouldn't give it to me, and we ended up going way too fast. You've got to have a Plan-B, and I didn't have one today.”
