I KEEP SAYING PREVAILS IN JIM BEAM PURSE
    SATURDAY AT EMERALD DOWNS

AUBURN, Wash. (May 25, 2013) – I Keep Saying rallied to the lead past mid-stretch and scored a one-length victory Saturday in the $14,500 Jim Beam Purse for 3-year-olds and up at Emerald Downs.

Ridden by Isaias Enriquez for trainer Jim Penney and owner-breeder Homestretch Farm Inc., I Keep Saying ran six furlongs in 1:08.87 and paid $3.40, $2.20 and $2.20. It was Penney’s second win on the card, and extended Enriquez string of consecutive days with a win to 16.

A 4-year-old Washington-bred by Yankee Gentleman-Arco Iris, I Keep Saying settled into third place early, as Fist Full of Green led Havanna Red through fractions of :22.33 and :44.88. The winner bid three-deep into the lane, forged to the front a furlong from the wire, and held both Fist Full of Green and the hard-charging Sandys Diamond to prevail.

Fist Full of Green and Sandys Diamond dead-heated for the place. Ridden by Eliska Kubinova, Fist Full of Green paid $4.40 and $5. Ridden by Javier Matias, Sandys Diamond returned $2.60 and $2.80.

Brock Says, Havanna Red and Leadership completed the order of finish.

I Keep Saying has a 2-1-2 record in seven career starts, with earnings of $26,296. The bay gelding has finished first in both starts this meeting, but was disqualified and placed second for a bumping incident April 27.

Juan Gutierrez rode three winners on the nine-race card, sweeping races two three and four with Cheese, Forty Something and My Mans No Lady. Gutierrez leads Enriquez 28-22 in the jockeys’ standings.

NOTES: Immigration ($9) snapped a 39-race losing streak with a one-length victory under Jennifer Whitaker in race five for owner/trainer Howard Belvoir. Although he hadn’t won since April 25, 2009, Immigration had been a steady earner during the losing streak, piling up 10 seconds and nine thirds. Voted Emerald Downs’ Top 2-Year-Old in 2006, Immigration now has career earnings of $201,711…Guy Winchester posted his first Emerald Downs training win as Sovereign Bay returned from an 8 ½ month layoff to post a 34-to-1 upset in race six…Chaching Pete ($18.20) led all the way in R7 to give jockey Luis Zacherle and trainer Preston Boyd their second victory in two days…The $2 daily double from Sovereign Bay to Chaching Pete returned $840, the second largest daily double of the season…Live racing continues Sunday with first post 2:15 p.m. The $50,000 Seattle Handicap for 3-year-old fillies goes as race eight at 5:48 p.m. Goin to the Window, voted Top 2-Year-Old Filly at Emerald Downs in 2012, is the 9-to-5 morning line favorite, followed by stablemates Stopshoppingdebbie at 5-2 and Blueberry Smoothie at 3-1.
